Training session 4: Data analysis

  • Stanhope Community Centre 11 Front Street Bishop Auckland, England, DL13 2NQ United Kingdom (map)

Training session 4: Data analysis

This session covers two key parts of research: planning your project and making sense of your findings.

We’ll start by looking again at your research questions and thinking about which methods will work best. In the first part of the session, we’ll explore how to design surveys, interviews, focus groups, and creative methods that are clear, fair, and ethical. We’ll also talk about taking notes during research.

After lunch, we’ll look at how to analyse different types of data. This includes methods like spotting patterns in interviews (thematic analysis), working with documents (content analysis), and using numbers (statistical analysis). We’ll use real examples and have time for questions, discussion, and planning for the next session.
